Now that I believe,
What should I know next?
Here’s what we all
need to know right away from the Word of God (not from man).
These 30 items come from World Wide Publications, a Ministry of
the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association:
1. Salvation – means
deliverance from sin and its consequence. You can say “I know I
am a Christian. I have been born into God’s family as His child.
I know I have eternal life.”
a. She will give
birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because
he will save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21)
b. But God
demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were
still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
c. For it is by
grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is
not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by
works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
d. Everyone
who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13)
e. Yet to all who
received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave
the right to become children of God – children born not of
natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but
born of God. (John 1:12-13)
2. One of the
devils tricks is to cause believers to doubt their salvation.
Having assurance means being certain with a freedom from doubt:
a. In him we
have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in
accordance with the riches of God’s grace. (Ephesians 1:7)
b. Who through
faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the
salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (1
Peter 1:5)
c. For I am
convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is
in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38)
d. My sheep listen
to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them
eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can
snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me,
is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s
hand. (John 10:27)
e. I write these
things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1John 5:13)
f. Being
confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will
carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 1:6)
3. Lordship: When we
place our faith in Jesus Christ, He becomes not only our Savior
but also our Sovereign Lord and Master. We are under new
ownership – He is now our leader. We can only enjoy our new life
in Christ as we daily seek His will and follow Him in obedience.
a. Do you not know
that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you,
whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were
bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. (1
Corinthians 6:19)
b. Jesus replied:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest
commandment.” (Matthew 22:37)
c. Delight yourself
in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.
(Psalm 37:4)
d. But seek first
his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be
given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)
e. I am the vine;
you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he
will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John
15:5)
f. Why do you call
me, “Lord, Lord,” and do not do what I say? (Luke 6:46)
